Marrying despite of covid-19? Each country, or sometimes even area, has its own rules. While many people have postponed their weddings, others have decided to reduce the amount of guests and continue with the festivities.

Also in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, it is possible again to hold church services. People however have to keep a distance of 1,5 metres if they don’t belong to the same family. Congregational singing is not allowed, but organ music is. Lists of participants are being kept, one has to disinfect hands when entering and leaving church, face masks are recommended. At least that is what the website of the St. Martinus-Kirche in Donzdorf says.

This is where Count Benedikt zu Waldburg-Zeil-Hohenems and Countess Elisabeth von Rechberg und Rothenlöwen decided to get married on 15 August 2020. The bride wore a gorgeous white lace dress. The train must be an old family piece, and really looks amazing. The baby tummy of the bride, she is expecting in December 2020, was hardly visible.

The service in the beautifully decorated church was conducted by the parish priest of Donzdorf, Mr Wagner. The witnesses were Thyra von Mecklenburg-Solodkoff, Countess Diane von Neipperg, Fabin Meinker, Hubertus Riedesel Freiherr zu Eisenbach and Caroline Lange-Piech. The bridal children were Johanna, Stephan, Emanuel and Alexandra von Neipperg, Paulina, Nikolaus and Jacobus Harmsen.

Only 100 guests could attend according to a report in the German magazine “Frau im Spiegel” of 26 August 2020. Among them were the groom’s father Count Vitus von Waldburg-Zeil-Hohenems, her parents Count Bernhard and Countess Barbara von Rechberg und Rothenlöwen and several other family members.
