Just Married: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Engagements & Weddings Events

Like many people I have tried to follow the wedding of Prince Harry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle on Saturday 19 May 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor all day. Let’s say it is not easy when your laptop needs a really large update and the alternative, your computer, is in the same room, but not within sight of the television. I really had to work, so I just had BBC on and listened while writing articles. Just watched so now and then until halfway the service my laptop was updated, so I could use it. At least I did wear my Kate & William wedding t-shirt from 2011.

From what I heard and saw the wedding service was not the regular kind of royal wedding service, and it was quite an emotional one too. You can download the order of service here. I enjoyed looking at pictures of the guests, royals and the bridal couple on Twitter as long as the laptop didn’t work, and sometimes a bit on television. Did I love the wedding dress? Hard to say, it looked beautiful, but I thought it was a bit too plain. On the other hand I absolutely adored her tiara and long veil. I watched them leaving for the reception at Frogmore House in the evening, and thought that dress was wonderful. But of course that’s just my taste.

Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle: Announcement of Titles

Published 19 May 2018

The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales.  His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel.

Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.

A small wedding report in photos

A long-time royalty friend of mine was one of the very lucky people who were allowed on the grounds of Windsor Castle and was standing quite close to the chapel.  He allowed me to use some of his pictures. Please don’t post them elsewhere.

The lovely decoration at St George’s Chapel.

The next member of the royal family will soon be born. Just a few more weeks to go for Zara Tindall.

The royal family watching bride and groom. And the goody bag that all people in the grounds got … interesting to see what was actually inside. Thanks Ken!

  1. Netty, I really enjoyed your personalized wedding day report, especially the goody bags with the picture so we could see what all was inside. I live in the US and we flipped around several tv stations watching the live coverage. Two friends, one a guy, stayed up with me to watch. We had a great time thoroughly enjoying every minute. Beautiful wedding, awesome couple!!
